Collaboration, integration and knowledge sharing are all key pillars for successful mining companies and METS providers, that’s why MICROMINE is excited to be a part of Rio Tinto’s Community of Practice (CoP).
The Rio Tinto CoP is an initiative undertaken to provide a platform for mining industry service providers to network, share initiatives and learnings, acquire knowledge and take away value adding solutions to replicate. It also allows Rio Tinto to monitor and maintain control of the numerous projects happening across their operations.
Participating companies are invited to hear from all of the Rio Tinto sites and to share information and knowledge on current projects and initiatives and how they have assisted mining companies to improve safety, improve current mining processes or enhance productivity. It provides participants a platform to share their successes and challenges and to learn from the experiences of others.
MICROMINE joined this exclusive group of industry leaders in 2017 and has contributed various updates to the group on some of the current innovation projects and software updates taking place across MICROMINE’s product groups. MICROMINE was the first underground technology solutions provider to be added to the CoP, previously the group had only included surface mining technology providers.
The CoP focuses on three key pillars for effective collaboration; people, processes and technology. Mining industry leaders must be agile and flexible, challenge poor process and put technology, innovation and interoperability at the forefront of strategy.
